Email subscriptions

Hello all,
I am trying to get some email subscriptions setup and I keep getting the
message "The e-mail address of one or more recipients is not valid". The
email address is valid and I am not sure what the problem is. If I set the
email address to a local account name (i.e Administrator) the subscription
works and e-mail shows up in the drop folder of the smtp server. Does anyone
know how I can get my subscriptions working to real email addresses and not
just local accounts? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
JeffI have solved my own issue. All I needed to do was edit the SMTP server
settings to grant access to the server to relay through its own IP address.

that has my exact same problem.

Then I clicked the relay button at the bottom of the page. Next I clicked on
add and inputted the IP address of my server. Then I clicked ok and made
sure the radio button labeled â'Only the list belowâ' was selected. That
solved my problem and I hope it solves yours as well.
Thanks,
Jeff

screen but after choosing to modify components (as opposed to uninstall) it
went right through to finish...How did you get to the SMTP properties?. I
appreciate your help very much.

referring to were in the SMTP server in IIS itself. If you open up IIS and
navigate to the SMTP server and then right click on it and go to properties
you should find the screens that I was referring to.

Email subscription Reported as Successful but not arriving in recipients inbox.

I have a report that is sent via email to a list of recipients. When I look at the subscription in 'My Subscriptions' the value in the Status column states that the message was 'sent successfully', however the email does not appear in the inboxes of any of the intended recipents. The report renders OK via the browser and only takes a few seconds to process. The subscription exports the report as an Excel file. The excel file is approx 8MB in size but this is still below the attachment size limit for internal emails within my organisation. The subscription is tied to a shared schedule. Other reports that are tied to the shared schedule are shown as successful in 'My Subscriptions' and also appear in the inboxes of recipients. All email address are correct.

I forgot to mention, the report was successfully received by all recipients until very recently and the report has not been modified since this time.

Has anyone come across this problem before.

Thanks

Mike

The Reporting Services e-mail delivery extension considers "sent successfully" to be "I handed it off to some SMTP forwarder". What happens to the e-mail after that is outside the scope of RS. You need to investigate within the e-mail system.

As a diagnostic, you might try delivering to an SMTP pickup folder temporarily to convince yourself that the Report Server is generating the e-mails. Find the rsReportServer.config file, change the "SendUsing" element to 1, specify some SMTPServerPickupDirectory, and try the delivery. If you get .EML files created in the specified folder, RS has done it's part of the delivery. Make sure you set SendUsing back to 2 or <blank> after you've done your test.

Here's a sample of the config file section you need to modify:

<RSEmailDPConfiguration>
<SMTPServer></SMTPServer>
<SMTPServerPort></SMTPServerPort>
<SMTPAccountName></SMTPAccountName>
<SMTPConnectionTimeout></SMTPConnectionTimeout>
<SMTPServerPickupDirectory>D:\Email</SMTPServerPickupDirectory>
<SMTPUseSSL></SMTPUseSSL>
<SendUsing>1</SendUsing>
<SMTPAuthenticate></SMTPAuthenticate>
<From>_awtest@.Microsoft.Com</From>

Email delivery not functional

Hello all,
I have programmed some subscriptions, containing sending EMails to different
recipients. My Problem: The delivery of the mails is functional to
Email-adresses like ...@.web.de or sth., but NOT to emails like
...@.t-online.de .
It would be nice, if anyone could help me, it´s very important. Thank you in
advanceYou may need to check the SendEmailToUserAlias and DefaultHostName elements
in the
RSReportServer.config file.

E-mail address of one or more recipients is not valid

We have setup Reporting Services on a Server 2003 box with SMTP intalled on
it. I am able to write a simple VB Script that uses CDO to send a e-mail out
to a certain address (let's say to john@.test.com). When I setup a
subscription using the same e-mail address I get the error "The e-mail
address of one or more recipients is not valid." Does anyone know why - if I
can write a 6 line CDO vbscript shouldn't SMTP be working?I've figured out what my problem is - apparently SQL Server Reporting
Services is not authenticating correctly. I had to change the settings on
the Relay Restictions on the Access tab for the SMTP Server Properties to be
allow relay through the virtual server with "All except the list below"
instead of the default "Only the list below". Seems like it should work with
the default setting since there is no authentication (anonymous access) but
looks like RS doesn't like that.
