Email tasks fail after an unsuccessful SQL 2005 installation

I tried installing SQL 2005 Dev Edition on my Win 2000 Professional machine. That failed. But now I cannot send out emails or even open a simple Email task from DTS. This is something that worked perfectly fine before I attempted the SQL 2005 installation. It seems that the SQL 2005 installation somehow messed up the the MAPI profile. The exact error message that I get when trying to execute or open a Email task in DTS is: CAnnot load MAPI Interface layer for DTS. Please make sure that semmap90.dll is installed.

Can someone tell me how to fix this issue.
Thanks,
Amir

EMail subscription fails with LOGON FAILED

I am setting up SQL Reporting enterprise. I can't get email subscriptions to
work. SQL Reporting enterprise is installed and the report works fine when
generated. The security is setup to use a windows account and store
credentials on server. This account has the SA role within SQL and the
database where data is being pulled from. Platform is Win2003 - fully
patched with Reporting service pack 1
There is nothing in the event logs indicating any type of failure.
The SMTP server is setup as remote SMTP server and I've verified the config
file to ensure it is setup correctly. Since I'm getting a logon failure -
I'm not sure its really an email issue at this point. Specifically, the
config file is set up as:
<SMTPServer>172.24.1.25</SMTPServer>
<SMTPServerPort>25</SMTPServerPort>
<SMTPAccountName></SMTPAccountName>
<SMTPConnectionTimeout></SMTPConnectionTimeout>
<SMTPServerPickupDirectory></SMTPServerPickupDirectory>
<SMTPUseSSL></SMTPUseSSL>
<SendUsing></SendUsing>
<SMTPAuthenticate>0</SMTPAuthenticate>
<From>SQLREP@.correctdomain.com</From>
<EmbeddedRenderFormats>
<RenderingExtension>MHTML</RenderingExtension>
</EmbeddedRenderFormats>
<PrivilegedUserRenderFormats></PrivilegedUserRenderFormats>
<ExcludedRenderFormats>
<RenderingExtension>HTMLOWC</RenderingExtension>
<RenderingExtension>NULL</RenderingExtension>
</ExcludedRenderFormats>
<SendEmailToUserAlias>True</SendEmailToUserAlias>
At this time out out of ideas - can anyone suggest where to look? What is the login failure you're recieving? Is it in the report server log
file when you try to perform the delivery?
If so the report server service account may not have rights to push email to
your SMTP server. You might need to drop them to the file system and use a
local SMTP server to pass them along to your outbound SMTP server.

The reportserverservice does show a login failure - although I can't imagine
why. I've setup the job with several credentials and all fail. (Including
Domain Admin role) The Reporting service is currently running as a network
service but I have also run it will a privledge domain account. Same error.
I am able to send to the SMTP server from this server without authentication.
I'm still stumped!

Email Subscription

Hi,

Please help, I am trying to setup email subscriptions using reporting services. When the subscription runs i get a status of Logon Failed.

What does this error mean?

Problem with the SMTP settings?
Problem with some background user settings?

Any info in the right direction welcome.

Si

Hi

What is the exact error message you received under the status column.

You can also look in the log file, it will be called ReportServer_(date).log under your server installation directory \logfiles.

Did you enter the right smtp address in rsReportServer.config (will be entered with installation but can be modified afterwards.)

Email Alert in SQL Server2000

can somebody help me to setup email alerts in SQL Server 2000 standard edition whenever, backup is successful OR failed to complete.

Thanks,

I'll assume you're doing scheduled backups via SQL Server Agent

1. Configure SQL Server to use SQL Mail (Check Books Online SQL Mail)

2. Add an operator to SQL Server Agent with the relevant email address

3. In your SQL Job, notifications tab, check the box to email, select your operator and also selec to alert whenever the job completes.

HTH!

EM can't connect to server

I suddenly can't work with my Enterprise Manager.
It tells me that log in failed - Can't access user's default database.
What can I do about it?
I really need to fix it fast.
Thanks a lot

Connect from Query Analyzer and change the default database for the user
you are using to login from SQL EM.

Thanks for your response.
I resolved the issue.
What happen I deleted my default database. And all the users for the SQL
Server had that database as default. So every program (EM,QA) that uses
default database in order to operate was throwing errors that they can't
login to the server.
So I decided to create database project in VS that uses specifies database
for login and not default and changed default database for all the users.
Thanks again.
Shimon.
