Email Subscription random failure

Hi folks,
I installed SP1 onto our development box in hope this would fix an issue with Email subscriptions failing on occasion to send. The problem is that random subscriptions are not firing after the report content is update and notification is not sent to the subscribers.
After installing SP1 on our dev boxes it appears to happen less often but still occasionally loosing one of the 9 email subscriptions i'm sending to myself. When i check the report the content of the snapshot was refreshed but the last run date for the subscription is for the previous day.
Any ideas?Do you see anything in the log files indicating a failure?

Only report execution snapshots will generate the correct event for a
subscription.

> >|||These email subscriptions are on the report execution snapshots. For now i'm going to be working around the issue and just setting up a seperate schedule for the emailing to (hopefully) occure after all reports are rendered.

Email subscription Configuration

Hi,
In configuring the the email extensions for the email subscriptions, we have
done the following: Applied SP1
Configured the email extension section of the RSreportingservices.config for
the FQDN of the exchange server.
Emails are not being sent. Error indicates configuration problem. What are
we missing here?

permission issue.

I've copied in the log file. It appears the Service account does not have
rights to check Domain User SIDs. What are the minimum rights that need to be
assigned to the service account to enable this check?

Email notification does not send

re: SQL Server 2005, SP1
I set up Database Mail on a clustered server using the db mail wizard
in Management Studio. I set up an operator using a mail group. The test
email worked fine. I also restarted the SQL Server Agent on node 1 of
the cluster using services manager.
Next, I set up a notification on a simple backup job to send an email
to the operator when the job completes.
However, the email is never sent out when the job completes. I have
checked the operator history and there is no history of an email ever
being sent. I also checked the current log and there are no error
messages whatsover regarding the mail not being sent. I also checked
the application log on node 1, and there is no error there either.
I have run the backup job several times now, send myself another test
email from the server (which works fine), but for some reason the email
just won't send on job completion.
Has anyone had this problem and how to resolve it? I though restarting
the Agent would solve the problem, but it has not.

EMail Delivery Format Problems

I have installed RS with SP1. I can send e-mails with reports attached to
it, but when I open the attachment I only see garbage, no matter what kind
of format I select (excel, pdf, etc.).
Any ideas?. Should I change something into the configuration files?

DanielYou might be running into the encoding issue. You can either install this
hotfix:

fact that it is about Lotus, the real issue is an encoding issue)
Or you can install SP2:

Email address disappears in subscription

When I am in a subscription for a report in RS (SP1 installed) and I click on
Select Schedule, and then click on OK, any email addresses that I had in the
subscription are gone. Any addresses that I have in the Cc: or Bcc: are still
there but the To: list is empty.
Is this normal?No, this is not normal. Does the subscription work normally if you enter
the to field after setting the subscription? I am not really sure what
would cause some of the fields to stay but others not. Does this happen for
every user?

perhaps you have an IE extension that is clearing it out for you (something
like the google toolbar). The fact that the other elements are working
correctly seems to indicate the issue is outside of RS.

FWIW, I am experiencing the same issue as Gary when creating a subscription.
The To field gets cleared out every time I click the Select Schedule
button - all others remain. It happens consistently across browsers and
client machines. Not a show-stopper, but pretty annoying to say the least.

<SendEmailToUserAlias>False</SendEmailToUserAlias>
When this is True, the field does not seem to get cleared out (maybe because
it's disabled?).

email a pdf report

I don't know if this is a bug or not. I have SP1 and used the web
service to render the report in PDF format. The report renders fine
but when I click on the email button it asks me if I want to email the
url or the report itself. I choose the latter. When it attached the
report in the email, I notice that the extension of the report is aspx
and not PDF. So, I test the email by sending it to myself. I have to
save the report as PDF extension in order to view as PDF otherwise it
me garbage. I wonder this is a bug. Thanks.I assume you are using your own ASP.NET application that calls the RS web
service then displays the result to your users. Your application needs to
set the ContentType property of the ASP.NET response object, and perhaps the
content-disposition HTTP header. Doing this will tell IE how to display the
data your page is returning.
