embed barcode in pdf

We export a report (pdf format) from Reporting Services that contains
barcodes. If someone tries to view the pdf on a computer that doesn't have
the barcode font loaded it doesn't show up. Is there a way to embed the
barcode image in the pdf?

TimPerhaps someone else will jump in but I am pretty sure there is no way to
embed the font in RS 2005.
RS 2008 will have barcode support (part of the Dundas controls that
Microsoft purchased and is including in RS 2008). This support will allow
you to get around this problem. Today your only choice is to have anyone
that needs to print barcodes to have the font on their machine.

I get this error while trying to look at the items in my SQL Server Surface Configuration for 2005:

No SQL Server 2005 components were found on the specified computer. Either no components are installed, or you are not an administrator on this computer. (SQLSAC)

I of course have Admin rights onmy Win XP Pro machine. This is SQL Server Enterprise 2005

Looks like maybe it's not possible to create an instance on an XP machine with Enterprise since I see this message in the install report as a warning:

SQL Server Edition Operating System Compatibility (Warning)
Messages
SQL Server Edition Operating System Compatibility
Some components of this edition of SQL Server are not supported on this operating system. For details, see 'Hardware and Software Requirements for Installing SQL Server 2005' in Microsoft SQL Server Books Online.

I am not sure that is a supported configuration. SQL Server 2005 Enterprise should not install on Windows XP Professional. If you try to install, you get the following warning:

"- SQL Server Edition Operating System Compatibility (Warning)

Messages

SQL Server Edition Operating System Compatibility

Some components of this edition of SQL Server are not supported on this operating system. For details, see 'Hardware and Software Requirements for Installing SQL Server 2005' in Microsoft SQL Server Books Online."

What is the version number? 9.0.1399? 9.0.2147?
Can you install a different SKU like the Developer Edition? or Express Edition?

I have the exact same problem but in my case it's win 2k3 server and SQL express that got installed as part of the Sharepoint portal server install. I was trying to run the sqlcmd utility but got this error

Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Native Client : An error has occurred while establi
shing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failu
re may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not
allow remote connections..
Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Native Client : Login timeout expired.

which led me to a KB article which said to run the surface config utility.

p.s. everything is running on VMware 4.51
