Hi,
My report requires a special type of font. I have the font installed on the
report server. When I export the report as PDF and view the document on the
report server I am able to see the new font. But when I open the same
document on a machine which doesn't have the font installed, I don't get to
see the font. I understand that there is some way you can configure your pdfs
so that the fonts are embedded within the PDF so that all the clients need
not have the font installed to view the document. Is there any way we can
embed fonts in pdfs using reporting services?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
GeorgeYou can't embed fonts into PDF exports in this version of SRS. Maybe next
version which is due maybe middle of next year. Crystal Reports allows you
to embed fonts in version 9.

Embedded font in SRS 2005?
I understand in SRS2000, it's not possible to embedded font in report, but
how about SRS2005?On May 9, 6:09 pm, CEO <C...@.discussions.microsoft.com> wrote:

If you are referring to controlling the font for different parts of a
value field (i.e., it might look like this in HTML: <b>Make a certain
word a different <font color="blue">font</font>.</b>), then no. If I'm
not understanding you correctly, please clarify.

Thank you for your reply. My question is how to embedded a special font(not
Windows default fonts) in SRS2005, then end users can print(paper or PDF) the
report without install this font.|||On May 10, 8:32 am, CEO <C...@.discussions.microsoft.com> wrote:

I'm not sure that this functionality would be possible; however, you
might look into writing a custom application that can handle non-
supported fonts and the app could display the report for viewing/
printing. Sorry that I could not be of greater assistance.

over 3,000 computers and heaven only knows how many printers. We have
routine, though intermittant, problems with font substitution with documents
either printed or saved to PDF, then printed. It would be a great help to be
able to set the PDF engine to embed fonts (see Adobe TechNote document at
www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/inted.cfm?id=329677). We can waste a lot
of paper with "surprise" font substitutions in Report Services documents...
