Email Validation in reporting Sevices...

Hi.
IM trying to send a scheduled excel report to some emails but when he
runs it tells me that the emails are not valid..
Any help? i can put any email?Have you tried emailing the file to an external email account of yours?
Something like hotmail, yahoo, gmail...
Open the file at home and see if it opens correctly.
By the way, there is a newsgroup for reporting services -
microsoft.public.sqlserver.reportingsvsc. If you do not get a solution here
you might want to post to the other group (with move information).

email notifications scheduled jobs

In the notifications tab of the job I have e-mail operator selected. Click on the box with the elipses to enter the email addresses. It will let me enter 2 email addresses in the e-mail name field. It looks like the field has a limited length...is there a way to manually enter several addresses?http://www.sqlmag.com/Article/ArticleID/21450/sql_server_21450.html

Email Error: The delivery extension for this subscription could not be loaded.

I am just getting started using scheduled emails and after setting up the
config file and setting up a schedule...I get the following error reported
on the RS (and no email):
"The delivery extension for this subscription could not be loaded."
when the subscription fires.
Can some one point me in the right direction on where to get more
information on this error. Does this mean that the EMAIL extension could
not be loaded or,
that the rendering format could not be loaded or,
what?
My first guess is that I did not set up the the email config section
correctly. What do you think and where on my system (logs) should I look to
get more details on this error. Win2003 server has a working SMTP relay
(tested with CDO VBS script).
thanks in advance.
dlrLook in the ReportServerService<date>.log file for more error information.
Also in the RSReportServer.config file make sure the SMTPServer element and
From element are filled in.

file and repeated experiments today have basic email "working". Well
actually a problem HAS come up with the attachments but that is the subject
of another post.

Editing SQL Jobs

I have scheduled a T-SQL job that runs every morning using Enterprise Manager. Now I want to change the SELECT and UPDATE statements that this job runs, but I can't find anywhere to edit a job that has already been scheduled. Any help would be appreciated.

ThanksIn Enterprise Manager, under your SQL Server
-- expand the Management node
-- expand the SQL Server Agent node
-- click on Jobs
-- right-click on your job and choose Properties
-- click on the Steps tab
-- click on the desired Step and choose Edit...

Editing scheduled backups and time stamping backup files

Sorry for the previous post. Here are the problems:
1. Using enterprise manager, I chose to backup a
database. I picked my backup device and checked the
schedule option, setup the time and frequency of the
backup. It worked properly. How does one go in and edit
or modify the schedule after it is created? I went to
the backup device but, it doesn't show my schedule name
or settings, in fact, it shows the schedule option
unchecked. Any ideas or is it a matter of deleting the
device and recreating it?
2. I want to have each full backup have the basic file
name but have a time stamp added into the name. It would
look something like: databasename_db_200408141830. 2004
is the year, 08 the month, 14 the day, 1830 the hour. I
have seen it done but do not know how to duplicate it.
By doing this, I can go back to previous backups if a
problem occurs. Once again, any ideas?inline...

the device actually will not show anything until it has been initialized. if
you want to edit the backup job itself you will find it under the
management, SQL agent, jobs. you 'll find it there.

the best way to do this is to create the backup job in database management
section. here you can create a scheduled backup and it will automatically
append the date/time of the backup.|||sorry I should be a bit more specific. you should look for the database
maintenance plan wizard. it can reindex, update statistics, backup database
and tlogs, and send notifications of job completion (I like this last one,
sends me an e-mail over lunch that my tlog backup has completed successfully
or not. it does take a bit more setup for the mail portion).
I'm a huge fan of the Maint.wizards but it shouldn't be the only way you
create these jobs. give em a shot...
