emailsubscription - eventpolling, but no notificationpolling
>From script i'm sending a few emails with pdf attachments.
One report is mailed, two others not. The script for creating the
subscriptions is equal, only different parameters.
When I look in the logfiles I don't see any errors, however only the
succeeded report has both event- and notificationpolling logging.
So the logging for the succeeded one is:

The securitysettings for all reports are equal.
The failed jobs are also not mailed if started from sqlagent (although
they succeed as sqlagentjob)
Any suggestions are more than welcome, since i have no clue how to
solve this!
Regards jespHave you tried viewing the subscriptions through Report Manager? Perhaps
something is not set up correctly causing the subscription to not fire
correctly.
Have you tried creating the same subscriptions through Report Manager?

emails reside in Inbox?
I'm working on MS SqL 2K
and I have installed MS Outlook.
I've configured the SQL Mail and SQL Agent Mail.
when I use the xp_sendmail, the emails reside in the Inbox of the Outlook
and are not sent to the right recipients, so I should re-send them from
Outlook.
I'm missing something for sure, what is it?
thanks in advance.
joujHi
Your emails should be sent, but at a guess your are using Outlook 2002 or
later in which case it has to be running on the server see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;263556
The easiest solution is to install Outlook 2000 or use xpsmtp

Emails repeating and growing...
Job Completion notifications. We recently had the server rebooted and I
received a small flood of emails. I've since asked for a daily reboot and
have been receiving a growing number of emails at the time of reboot (3am).
I'm recieving emails from 7/1/05 forward on a daily basis.
I opened up Outlook and there are no emails stuck in the Outbox. Would any
of you have an idea where to look?
FYI :
SQL Server SP4
SQL has it's own ID on this machine with it's own mail profile
This mail profile is shared by both Agent and SQL Server
POP3 goes through a Lotus Domino POP3 interface
I don't think the POP3 has any bearing on it... but since the whole
Send/Recieve process is touchy maybe there's something there.
Any suggestions would be appreciated
Ok... maybe an easier question would be... where do I find the SQL Server
outbound mail queue?

why it is a bad idea to send email from a trigger, for example. Also, MAPI isn't the best choice for
a service. Have you considered using xp_smtp_sendmail? www.sqldev.net.

So what can I do to analzye MAPI to see if these messages are simply sitting
in a queue somewhere? If I delete all mail profiles and recreate will it be
resolved?

I suggest you ask in a mail/exchange group.

I don't know if it will be resolved, but I tend to start troubleshooting by deleting and creating
the MAPI profile.
Btw, I believe that some configurations, you need to actually have Outlook running in order for the
emails to leave the queue. That is why I prefer to use Outlook 2000. However, I can imagine that
even with Outlook 2000, this can happen based on the backend storage. KB, Google and time is your
friend.

I don't know if it will be resolved, but I tend to start troubleshooting by
deleting and creating
the MAPI profile.
Btw, I believe that some configurations, you need to actually have Outlook r
unning in order for the
emails to leave the queue. That is why I prefer to use Outlook 2000. However
, I can imagine that
even with Outlook 2000, this can happen based on the backend storage. KB, Go

Any suggestions would be appreciatedOk... maybe an easier question would be... where do I find the SQL Server
outbound mail queue?

why it is a bad idea to send email from a trigger, for example. Also, MAPI isn't the best choice for
a service. Have you considered using xp_smtp_sendmail? www.sqldev.net.

Emails Are Being Lost - Not Sent
I have data driven subscriptions that are being logged in the
reporting services logs as being emailed successfully, but there is no
record of them in the email server logs. Only some of the recipeints
are not receiving the emails - most of them do go through succesfully.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Where should I look?I'm experiencing pretty much the same problem. I've got a few subscriptions
scheduled on a Windows 2000 SP4 Server with Reporting Services Enterprise
version 8.0.1038.00 that are displayed as successfully delivered, but there
is no trace of the emails being sent. If I restart the ReportServer service
and reschedule the subscription, it runs and the email is successfully
delivered, but I'm not sure why the subscriptions are failing. Anyone
experience this or have a resolution?
Thanks,
Derek

Any help? i can put any email?Have you tried emailing the file to an external email account of yours?
Something like hotmail, yahoo, gmail...
Open the file at home and see if it opens correctly.
By the way, there is a newsgroup for reporting services -
microsoft.public.sqlserver.reportingsvsc. If you do not get a solution here
you might want to post to the other group (with move information).

Im working with the report server and im trying to make a
"subscription" that triggers an action. The action is send every
fridays a report in excel format of some database fields to some email
accounts.
When the subscription is triggered an error is showed in the report
server saying that the emails specified are not valid.

Email through SQL
HOWEVER, that said, perhaps you could send a "regular" email to your user from SQL Server, then set up some rules in Outlook to massage the necessary options and forward the email on to the appropriate customers? I know that's kinda a round-about way to get there, but it seems to me that it would work if nobody comes up with a definitive answer from SQL Server...
Just a thought

Thanks a lot. I renamed semmap.dll to semmap90.dll and that solved the issue.
Thanks again.

Dan,
which on of the downloads has the MAPI DLL needed?
I applied the DTS download and that did not resolve the issue.

|||The one you want is labeled backwards compatibility.
|||Thank you for this information, I renamed semmap.dll to semmap90.dll ("C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\")and also the semmap.rll to semmap90.rll ("C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\Resources\1033\") worked like a charm.|||Thanks so much, Dan. That is the method that worked for me. When I tried just renaming the files, I couldn't even open Enterprise Manager without multiple error messages. I even had to kill the process. If someone else has this problem, I would recommend running the script first. Then if that doesn't work, try fooling around with the file names -- not the other way around.
|||After renaming of the file semmap.rll to semmap90.rll on
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\Resources\1033
and semmap.dll to semmap90.dll
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\
it worked fine for me
Email tasks fail after an unsuccessful SQL 2005 installation
Can someone tell me how to fix this issue.
Thanks,
Amir
acharania@.trimontrea.comGo to the 80 directory that's installed with SQL Server 2000 -
(\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn)
Rename the semmap.dll file to semmap90.dll|||Go to the 2000 install of SQL Server (Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn) make a copy semmap.dll and name it semmap90.dll, then go to Binn\resources\1033 and make a copy of semmap.rll and name that copy semmap90.rll|||
The other option is to download and install the "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Backward Compatibility Components" from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=d09c1d60-a13c-4479-9b91-9e8b9d835cdc&DisplayLang=en. This will install the latest version of the overlapping DLLs.

Email Problems after 2005 Upgrade
migration?
We are getting an error on about 50% of our subs with a "internal error
has occured o nteh report server." I tried to update a schedule and
test again and then get a "The report server has encountered a
configuration error." It's wierd that it's just some of them and I
can't figure out a rhyme or reason. No, I didn't have this problem BUT I did have a few flaky problems that went
away once I updated the reports. When you upgrade the server the reports you
have already deployed are left in 2000 format (at least it seems that way to
me). Regardless, I had some weird little problems, I brought each report up
into the report designer, allowed them to be converted and redeployed them
and all my weird little problems went away. You might want to try that.
